What Public Act 26-50 means for your agency
Signed into law on May 20, 2026, Connecticut Public Act 26-50 creates the state's first mandatory training requirement for homemaker-companion agency employees. In brief:

Beginning January 1, 2027, every Connecticut homemaker-companion agency must:
- Provide 8 hours of approved training to each new caregiver (within 90 days of hire)
- Provide annual continuing education
- Keep signed completion records and training-content summaries on file
- Submit an annual attestation to the Department of Consumer Protection
- Have documentation ready if the state requests it
